Project Overview
Level Home, recognized for their premium smart lock technology, acquired Dwelo to expand their reach from single-family residences into the multi-family housing market. This strategic expansion presented complex design challenges that required reimagining their digital experience for an entirely new user ecosystem.
The transition from consumer-focused products to enterprise-grade solutions demanded careful consideration of multiple stakeholder needs while maintaining Level's established reputation for sophisticated design and seamless user experience.
Design Challenge
The expansion into multi-family properties introduced three critical user scenarios that required comprehensive digital solutions. Property managers required centralized control systems to oversee shared spaces, manage resident access permissions, and monitor building-wide security from a unified dashboard. Residents needed intuitive, secure access to their individual units without compromising the streamlined experience Level customers expected. The entire platform needed to scale efficiently for professional property management use while preserving Level's signature design excellence.
A secondary phase introduced additional complexity with the requirement for a white-labeled self-touring system. This solution needed to enable prospective renters to independently schedule property visits, access units remotely, and conduct tours autonomously while maintaining real-time communication with property management teams.
Strategic Solution
I led the visual design strategy for Level's new enterprise platform and collaborated in developing Nebula, a comprehensive design system specifically architected for complex operational workflows. This system complemented Level's existing consumer-focused Supernova design system, ensuring brand consistency across all touchpoints while addressing the distinct requirements of professional property management.
The enterprise interface prioritized operational efficiency through intuitive navigation, comprehensive data visualization, and streamlined task management. The design emphasized clarity and speed, enabling property managers to oversee hundreds of units with confidence and precision.
For the self-touring experience, I co-led the design of a flexible booking system that maintained Level's premium brand standards while offering extensive customization options. The solution provided prospective renters with a sophisticated, contactless touring experience that included online scheduling, time-sensitive access codes, and independent property exploration. The system featured white-label capabilities with customizable themes, allowing individual properties to maintain their unique branding while ensuring consistent functionality and user experience standards.
Business Impact
The comprehensive digital platform successfully enabled Level's expansion into the multi-family market while maintaining their reputation for design excellence and technological innovation. The dual-system approach provided property managers with powerful operational tools and residents with the seamless access experience that defines the Level brand.
The integrated platform positioned Level to scale their smart access technology across diverse property types while preserving the elegance and intelligence that established their market leadership in residential smart home solutions.
